Consumables

From Citadel Wiki
Early accessCitadel is still in development. Numbers and rules on this page can change between patches. Last checked October 2026.

Consumables are single-use items that change a module, a hull or the fitting grid itself. They are used from your cargo or from the hub stash.

Every consumable that targets an item shares three rules: the target must be identified, a Replicated copy cannot be changed, and one consumable is used up each time.

Changing a module or a hull

The descriptions are the game's own.

Consumable In-game description Details
NORN Overclocker Adds a modifier to a hull, module, or forge cell. Rolls one new modifier from the item's pool. Works until the item holds four.
HERMES Augmenter Adds one modifier to a Normal hull or module, or to a forge cell. The same as a NORN, but only on a Normal item with no modifiers.
LAPLACE Probability Matrix Adds 4 modifiers to a Normal hull or module, or to a forge cell. Needs a Normal item with no modifiers. The result is identified.
KAIROS Rollback Device Removes the lowest-tier modifier from a hull, module, or forge cell. Needs at least two modifiers. If several share the lowest tier, one of them is removed at random. A locked modifier is never removed.
KISHAR Prism Re-rolls the values of all modifiers on a hull, module, or forge cell. Each modifier keeps its tier and rolls a new value inside it. A locked modifier is left alone.
SHIVA Cycler Removes all modifiers from a hull, module, or forge cell. A locked modifier stays.
STYX Edict Permanently locks a modifier on a hull, module, or forge cell. It cannot be changed or removed. Locks one modifier, picked at random. An item can have only one locked modifier.
PTAH Crucible Randomly changes the quality tier of a hull or module. The new quality can be the same as the old one. Masterwork is the least likely result. Works on Artifact and Regalia items too.
JANUS Graft Adds a port to a portless module. One port, at a random position. Works on Artifact and Regalia modules.
CARDEA Portmender Re-rolls where ports appear on a module. All ports must be empty. At least one port always moves.
THOTH Adapter Permanently changes a module to the displayed module type. Each adapter is made for one module type. The module keeps its modifiers; later rolls use the new type's pool, and the module feeds the new type's conduit.
TYCHE Catalyst 25% chance to convert a Normal hull or portless module into its Regalia or Artifact variant, destroys on failure. The target must be Normal, with no ports and no modifiers, and must have such a variant. On success it becomes one of its variants, picked at random.
YATA Replicator Creates an unfitted mirrored copy of a hull, module, or conduit, or mirrors a forge cell. Copies cannot be modified (does not work on Artifacts or Regalia). The copy is marked Replicated. A copy cannot be copied again.
Cipher Key Activates a harmonic on a Normal rarity module with matching ciphers attached. Must have ports equal to cipher count. See harmonics.

What refuses what

  • Faction-quality items accept only the PTAH Crucible, the CARDEA Portmender and Tek Ciphers.
  • Artifact and Regalia items accept only the PTAH Crucible, the JANUS Graft, the CARDEA Portmender and Tek Ciphers. Their modifiers cannot be added to, removed, rerolled or locked.
  • Harmonic modules accept only the PTAH Crucible and the YATA Replicator.

Changing the grid

These change the hull's fitting grid itself. A Replicated hull cannot be changed.

Consumable In-game description Details
BROKKR Slot 50% chance to add a core fitting slot adjacent to an existing slot (2 max). Use it on an empty space that shares an edge with a cell of the grid. On a miss it is used up with no change.
ANDVARI Coil 50% chance to convert a core slot to Battery (1 max). Use it on an empty core slot.
EITRI Arc 50% chance to convert a core slot to Subsystem (1 max). Use it on an empty core slot.
VOLUNDR Jet 50% chance to convert a core slot to Propulsion (1 max). Use it on an empty core slot.
SKULD Omen Scrambles a fitting grid slot. May retype, expand, or destroy it. Use it on an empty Battery, Subsystem or Propulsion hardpoint. It may do nothing, change the hardpoint to one of the other two kinds, add a core slot beside it, or destroy the cell. It is not held to the limits of the other four.

A change that succeeds adds the consumable's rating to the hull's build rating.

Tek Ciphers

Ciphers are attached to a module's ports in the same way. They have their own page: Tek Ciphers.
