Breach tiers
A breach tier is how deep a Breach is. The tier sets which ships may enter, how tough everything inside is, and how good the loot can be.
Entry
To leave a hub for a breach, the ship's build rating, cargo included, must be within the tier's limits.
| Tier | Minimum build rating | Maximum build rating |
|---|---|---|
| Stratum 0 | None | 20,000 |
| Stratum 1 | None | 6,000 |
| Stratum 2 | None | 8,000 |
| Stratum 3 | 6,000 | 10,000 |
| Stratum 4 | 8,000 | 13,000 |
| Abyssal | 10,000 | 16,000 |
| The Nest | 12,000 | 100,000 |
| Deep Strata | 16,000 | 200,000 |
Stratum 0 is the tier the tutorial runs on. Deeper tiers also need the tier before them cleared, which is done by extracting from it.
How the tier changes what you fight
Every NPC in a breach takes the tier's modifiers, bosses included.
| Tier | Hull | Armor | Kinetic damage to armor | Turret damage | Also |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stratum 0 | 60% | Turret tracking 80%, signature doubled | |||
| Stratum 1 | 75% | Signature +40% | |||
| Stratum 2 | +30% | Reduced by 5% | 90% | Signature +20% | |
| Stratum 3 | +40% | +10% | Reduced by 10% | 110% | Barrier HP +50%, missile and mine damage +30% |
| Stratum 4 | +50% | +20% | Reduced by 12% | 112% | Tracking +5%, speed +15%, barrier HP doubled, missile and mine damage +60% |
| Abyssal | +75% | +30% | Reduced by 15% | 116% | Turret range +20%, tracking +10%, speed +30%, thrust +30%, barrier HP +140%, missile and mine damage doubled |
| The Nest | Doubled | +40% | Reduced by 20% | 125% | Tracking +12%, speed +25%, thrust +40%, signature +30% |
| Deep Strata | +120% | +50% | Reduced by 24% | 130% | Tracking +12%, speed +30%, thrust +40%, signature +30% |
A larger signature makes a ship easier to track, so NPCs in the first tiers are easier to hit as well as weaker.
How the tier changes what you find
Deeper tiers roll better loot: more ports on modules, higher modifier tiers, and a larger share of the rarer rarities. Stratum 0 cannot drop Regalia at all.
Deeper tiers also allow more elite modifiers on one ship: one in Stratum 1, two in Stratum 2 and three from Stratum 3.
Tides
A breach runs in 30-minute tides. At each tide the faction Bastion Ships are raised again if they have fallen, and nodes that had a named champion get it back.
