The Brood Queen is the queen of the Thermavores and a boss. She patrols Queen's Layer in Nest Sanctum, the region of The Nest tier. She has no faction and no EMP. What she has is eggs.

Bosses explains how a boss fight works. This page has what is particular to her.

Stats

In Nest Sanctum she always carries her champion bonuses: armor doubled, hull half again as high, turret range doubled, tracking half again as fast, the Marksman rule and a pack of six Nestlings.

Stat Base In Nest Sanctum, about
Hull 8,000 23,700
Armor 15,000 41,500
Armor resistance (acid / explosive / kinetic) 40% / 22% / 38% Kinetic about 50%
Hull resistance 33% to all three
Signature radius 9,000 11,700
Top speed 86

Mounts

Mount Count Health each, base In Nest Sanctum, about
Armor Repairer 4 3,750, healing 40 a second 10,400
Hull Bulkhead 1 8,000 23,700
Dreadnought's Bane 2 11,000 11,000

She has a single bulkhead that carries her whole hull. Destroying it kills her.

Weapons

Weapon Count Damage per shot, base Cycle Range
Dreadnought's Bane 2, can be destroyed 64.5 kinetic 0.2 seconds, 48-round magazine 600 optimal, 600 falloff
Brood Queen Beam 5, firing forward in a 30 degree arc 5.25 kinetic every 0.1 seconds Continuous 1,400 optimal, 400 falloff
Auto-Cannon 8 13.5 kinetic 0.3 seconds 600 optimal, 600 falloff

The brood nest

Her escorts come from eggs.

  • While provoked she lays a clutch of four eggs every 20 seconds. The first clutch comes the moment she is provoked.
  • A Brood Egg drifts where it is laid. It has 300 hull and 100 armor at base, and hatches into a Nestling after 150 seconds. Eggs can be shot, rammed and towed. A destroyed egg leaves no wreck.
  • Every live egg heats your reactor. Each one adds 0.75 heat a second to every pilot within 6,000 of the queen. Twenty eggs are 15 a second, three times what a hull sheds.
  • The nest's temperature is the number of live eggs out of 24. The game shows it as a Nest Temperature bar. At 24 the nest overheats and every egg hatches at once.
  • She stops laying while eggs and hatchlings together number 50.
  • Her eggs die with her.

A Nestling has 500 hull and 950 armor at base, and carries two beams and a Thrust Scrambler.

Opener: the brood surge

When her fourth repairer dies she channels for 15 seconds, laying nothing, and then lays 12 eggs at once. Two repairers then return and her bulkhead closes again. For the rest of the fight she lays a clutch every 14 seconds instead of 20, and her gun batteries reload twice as fast.

What that adds up to

Eggs left alone heat every ship in range and, at 24, hatch together. Time spent killing eggs is time her repairers are not being hit, and a repairer starts healing after 3 seconds without damage.

Rewards

One salvage socket, since she has one bulkhead. No Merits. See death and loot.
